Lost

Hi, there! I’m Ella. I love the beach. In fact, my family and I are headed there right now. Natallie, my sister is so excited, she’s jumping in her seat. This was going to be the best day ever!

Dad parked the car in the parking lot. “Here we are”, he said. We all got out of the car and headed to the bathroom. As soon as we got dressed, Natallie and I ran straight for the crowded beach. Our parents followed.

“C’mon!” I called over my shoulder. Natallie was the first to dive in. “Whoo!” she yelled in excitement.

We played in the salty water for at least 15 minutes when we finally came out. We were laughing hysterically. Once we caught our breath, we realized something was wrong. “Mom! Dad!”, Natallie called. They were gone.

Natallie sobbed. I tried to comfort her, but I couldn’t even comfort myself. Our parents were gone, and we were surrounded by dozens of people. I hugged my sister to support her, and she stopped crying.

30 minutes passed. We still couldn’t find our parents. “Ella!” Natallie exclaimed, “Look!”. She pointed to a police officer. I smiled.

“Natallie, you’re the best.”

We ran over to the officer. “Excuse me”, I said. He spun around, and frowned. “Are you two alone, or with a parent or guardian?”, he asked. “Uhh, we’re lost”, I replied. The police officer smiled. He picked up his walkie talkie, and said something we didn’t understand. A muffled voice said something else, and the officer mentioned us to come with him.

We walked for 10 minutes, soon we saw someone running towards us. As we got closer we saw the people more clearly. It was Mom and Dad! They scooped us up, and showered us with kisses. We were so happy, we were practically crying. We thanked the officer, and had a wonderful day at my favorite place, the beach.
