Audrey awakes to the smell of burning. She glances at her alarm clock. It’s 9:50 am. She’s going to be late for school! Quickly she got dressed, brushed her teeth, and combed her hair. She ran down stairs to find her mom yelling at her sister Marry. She burnt her breakfast for the third time this week. Audrey couldn’t help but smile.
“But I was only trying to help!” Marry wails.
“Don’t do it again,” her mother says, and stalks away. Marry sighs. Then she notices the time for school! She picked up her bag and ran out to the bus stop. Audrey follows.
At the bus stop, someone is waiting for them. It was their uncle! He was a very smart scientist and inventor.
“Hey Uncle Barry!” said Audrey. “Come up with any super cool inventions yet?”
“Why yes. You read my mind,” He says. “Meet me at the mall after school okay.” Audrey and Marry both nod. They would never miss the opportunity to see any of Uncle Barry’s machines. They were really cool.
Right after the bell rings, Audrey and Marry rush to the mall. There they saw Uncle Barry standing behind his car. His car….well, it was covered in gadgets and gizmos, and wires, etc. The sisters exchanged a puzzled look.
“Uncle Barry, what is that?” Marry asked, when they got to him.
“Why, it’s a time machine,” He said. “Do you want to test it out?” Marry was more than excited and jumped into the car. Audrey, on the other hand was doubtful, but she climbed in anyway. Uncle Barry took a remote control from his pocket, and closes the door. The next thing the girls knew, they were going so fast, and then-BOOM!
Audrey and Marry step out of the smoking vehicle, coughing. They looked around. There was tall grass all around them. There was a loud thump behind them.
The girls twirled around and screamed. There, right before their eyes, was a dinosaur.
“Marry, get back in the car!” Audrey yelled. Marry obeyed. Audrey turned on the car, and again, they were going so fast, they didn’t have time to scream. They tumbled out the car.
Outside, Uncle Barry was beaming. “How did it go?” The girls groaned.
